Dr. Leonard Swerdlof Board-Certified Periodontist
Dr. Leonard Swerdlof, a highly skilled and dedicated periodontist in Nutley, has always been fascinated by the field of dentistry since a young age. Growing up, he was a patient of a fantastic local dentist who piqued his interest in the field and sparked his passion for helping others improve their dental health. With a strong background in science and creative manual skills, Dr. Leonard was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry where he could apply these skills and make a difference in the lives of his patients.
Dr. Leonard started practicing dentistry after graduating in the top of his class from a 3-year Residency in Periodontics at Rutgers School Of Dental Medicine in 2018. Over the years, he honed his skills through continuing education and became an expert in the field of Periodontics. In 2020, he joined Dr. Mark Khaimov’s practice, where he could provide his patients with the highest quality of surgical and non-surgical care.
What Dr. Leonard enjoys the most about his days at the office is the interaction he has with his patients. He takes the time to understand their needs and concerns, and works with them to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their individual goals and expectations. His goal is to help his patients achieve an optimal oral health, create a beautiful natural smile, and the most positive experience for every patient from consultation to periodontal maintenance and dental implants, and he takes great pride in the work he does.
Dr. Leonard Swerdlof attended Saint Petersburg University in Russia, where he earned his first Dental Medicine Diploma in 2011. He went on to attend New York University College of Dentistry between 2011 and 2013 as a Comprehensive Dentistry foreign student, when he was accepted to Rutgers School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and his certificate in Periodontics.
Dr. Leonard is a proud member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, New Jersey Dental Association, North East Society of Periodontology, and the American Dental Association. He maintains the high status of a Diplomate of the American Board Of Periodontology after completing his board certification. He has been a part of these organizations at a high level of membership to stay up to date with the state of the art solutions for periodontal and peri-implant health.
In his free time, Dr. Leonard enjoys a fairly active lifestyle. He loves hiking, skiing, traveling with his family, and spending time with his dog Mishka. He also dedicates his time on a weekly basis serving as a Clinical Assistant Professors at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, providing education to the junior and senior dental students. Dr. Leonard is a well-respected member of the dental community and is committed to helping his patients achieve their best possible oral and implant health.
